One Day Is... Now

ree

To truly live our most authentic lives and fulfill our purpose on earth is a matter of removing our masks; de-conditioning from the inherited lessons of society and family systems that do not work well for us; and summoning enough courage to reconnect with our own inner being. This is no small task, and definitely not for the faint-hearted.

When we are close to embarking on what fuels our passion, there are often glitches and pauses that show up, simply to allow us to reconnect with ourselves --- perhaps a Universal invitation to configure our internal GPS. When we are not in alignment with our own self-awareness, we may see these as obstacles or "misfortunes" (especially if we are stuck in victimhood mentality).

To overcome this "stuckness" the momentum has to shift from fear to love. Specifically, self-love. Even small, daily acts of self-love can help. This may look like:

  • Waking up in the morning with focus on self-compassion, especially when the mind starts racing with anxiety.

  • Being thankful for our own selves.

  • Getting comfortable with saying "no" to what brings us down, and a resounding "yes" to what nourishes us.

  • Noticing when we are rushing from one task to another, and mindfully slowing down our movements.

  • Enjoying an act of delight for ourselves without guilt or shame -- like enjoying a small treat.

  • Listening to a favorite song or podcast as we do mundane chores.

  • Opening the windows to get some fresh air in.

  • Dancing or engaging in our favorite kind of physical movement.

  • Recalling a moment in life that caused our hearts to smile.

Intention and courage are critical when we are taking the leap from what is not working for us towards what may be a better situation. One formula maybe to set the right intention; follow it with research and development of our idea(s); and seek out all resources possible to help us. And then, this is important, let go. Let go of the results, let go of what we cannot control; and let go of fear.

We have one life, yet fear tells us "one day" we will do what we want to. "One day" that is sacrificed on the altar of societal norms and expectations just so that we are part of a group. Well, what would happen if we choose our "one day" now and let go of the fear and the expectations of everyone else?

I wonder. With Love.
